I'm Leela. I see the world with an open perspective, and I don't take life for granted. I believe in the good of humankind, and I believe that people need people. I live for the smile that lights up a face, and I live for the feeling of knowing I brightened someone else's day. I love to learn, and I ask too many questions. I love challenges, but I know that I will not always be victorious. I love art., and I love history. So here’s a surprise: I absolutely adore going to Museums. There's nothing better than a relaxing day spent amongst the legends, myths, and truths of the past and present. I love to put my mind to the test, and I love to build robots. Hey, I try to make my life as thrilling as The Legend of Zelda. I'm a music junkie that loves to dance. I'm creative, and I change my mind every day. I believe in the power of love. I'm through with holding onto painful memories, so I’m living my life in the present, for the future. I'm awkward, but it will grow on you, I promise. I am fascinated by mysteries and the unknown. I take chances; I want to swim with sharks, I want to sky dive, I want to help people in third world countries, and I want to travel the world. I don't know when my time is up here, so I am living my life to the extreme.

To me the most astounding fact in the universe is the power of mind which drives my fingers as I write these words. Somehow, by natural processes still totally mysterious a million butterfly brains working together in a human skull have the power to dream, to calculate, to see and to hear, to speak and to listen, to translate thoughts and feelings into marks on paper which other brains can interpret. Mind, through the long course of biological evolution, has established itself as a moving force in our little corner of the universe. Here on this small planet, mind has infiltrated matter and has taken control. It appears to me that the tendency of mind to infiltrate and control matter is a law of nature.

Advice for young feminists? Do something else besides feminism. I’m serious. The feminist blogosphere is oversaturated in my opinion. Please, find something else you love and take feminist theory there. It gets lonely over here in tech and video games – I have a great crew of other feminists but we are a little island in a vast sea. We need more feminist minded business bloggers, feminist theory wielding finance bloggers. Labor organizers with a feminist lens blogging. Can you imagine what Deadspin (the sports blog) would look like with a feminist on staff? Restructure writes about science, tech and feminism – join her! Publish a blog doing literary criticism with a feminist lens! Take on the NYT! Talk about class issues and feminism. Whatever it is, apply your feminism in a different space.
I personally enjoy doing EVERYTHING with feminism, but I love that this encourages people to take feminism and apply it everywhere.

When I read a book I seem to read it with my eyes only, but now and then I come across a passage, perhaps only a phrase, which has a meaning for me, and it becomes part of me.
